Adel Kelany, field director of the "Unfinished Obelisk" quarry museum in Aswan and a core member of QuarryScapes, has started a special survey and rescue archaeology programme in the southern part of the Aswan ancient granite quarries. Together with his SCA-team he has succeeded in developing an intimate cooperation with the numerous modern quarrying companies operating in the area, aiming at halting or relocating modern extraction damaging ancient quarry sites. Several smaller sites have already been rescued, which shows the importance of such kinds of cooperation.
